Spencer West LLP, an integrated fee-sharing law firm, has opened a Scottish practice.
David Morton, a former DLA Piper bank and finance partner, will lead the firm’s presence here in Scotland. Jonathan More, formerly Fenwick Elliott construction partner, will serve as business growth director.
Spencer West’s fee sharing model allows its lawyers flexibility and collaboration while retaining a substantial portion of their revenue generation. It is the first of its kind to open a Scottish office.
It will be able to operate in a variety of areas, including banking and finance and corporate, commercial, and real estate tax.
Simeon Spencer, cofounder and senior partner, stated: “We are very excited by this move. We look forward to building a high-calibre staff alongside Jonathan and David, and we feel extremely fortunate to have them join us to help develop the firm’s presence here in Scotland.
David Morton, Spencer West Scotland’s founding director, stated: “I am thrilled to be joining such a ambitious and innovative company and relish the chance to lead the development of the Scottish legal practice, offering high-quality services to our clients, provided with experienced and accomplished attorneys.”
Jonathan More, Spencer West Scotland’s business growth director, said: “Spencer West has the perfect location to offer a home for many skilled Scottish lawyers. I’m certain that the entrepreneurial approach we take as a company will appeal to the business community of Scotland.
This announcement comes after the firm has opened offices in Spain and Belgium in the past year. The leadership team anticipates making more announcements about the firm’s international capabilities in the next few months. Spencer West is home to over 100 international partners.
