Mr Justice Clarke, who’s held the top judicial place because 2017, is set to retire after this year. He’ll turn 70 in October.
Justice Minister Helen McEntee will find consent for the constitution of a bespoke selection committee between Attorney General Paul Gallagher SC, a top judge and a secular person, as stated by the Irish Examiner.
This may reflect the exact same procedure used to appoint Mr Justice Clarke at 2017. Neither the Judicial Appointments Advisory Board (JAAB) procedure nor the suggested new judicial appointments procedure is going to be utilized.
