Ken Murphy retired by the Law Society of Ireland now after serving for 26 years since its director general.
There were just 5,000 attorneys in Ireland when Mr Murphy took up office in 1995, and he also leaves the Law Society with over 22,000 attorneys on the roster today.
He advised The Irish Times:”I’d say the overall belief is that everybody’s income is down. Absolutely everybody’s income is down, regardless of what region of the profession you’re in. Just how much it is down will change.”
And he cautioned that new private injury guidelines might have a further negative impact, telling the Irish Independent:”I think that it will become unattractive for attorneys to take examples”
